Career Assessments
Whether you’re uncertain about your next step or seeking clarity in your career journey, career assessments and guided activities are helpful in your career exploration process. These tools help you recognize and understand your values, interests, personality, and skills (VIPS). Once you know your VIPS, you can better determine how they may align with and support your career goals.
Make an appointment with a career coach at the Center for Career Development, and together, you will discuss the most suitable self-discovery tools for you.. After you complete your career assessment(s), it is important to meet again with your career coach to review and plan your next steps.
If you want to get started now, before meeting with a career coach, there are some assessments you can complete on your own. Again, we always recommend meeting with a career coach to help you process your findings and make an informed plan.

Values
Workplace Values Sort: Reflecting on what matters most to you – both in and out of the workplace – helps you prioritize what you need to feel fulfilled. This is a helpful exercise whether you have some ideas of the industries or roles you’re interested in, or you are starting to build an understanding of what you’re looking for.
Interests
Strong Interest Inventory: Discover your top interests and connect them to potential majors and career paths. The more your interests align with your career, the more satisfied you’ll be.
Personality
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI): Uncover your inherent preferences, personality strengths, and motivations. Aligning your natural talents and personality with your career and work environment can lead to higher satisfaction and well-being.
Skills
Motivated Skills Inventory: Assess your unique skillset, and how motivated you feel to use each. Tapping into your skills helps you find work you’ll excel at and enjoy.
